Laetare Sunday - Missa Cantata

Following the successful Sung Mass for Quinquagesima Sunday, the Rudgate Singers are returning to English Martyrs' Church to sing on Laetare Sunday, 14th March. We shall again be singing a polyphonic Mass setting alongside other chant pieces and music by Tallis.

All welcome! This is a rare opportunity to experience some of the rich treasury of the Church's sacred music as it was originally intended to be heard – during the Liturgy. Please do encourage people to come along.

Meanwhile, on other Sundays during Lent, there will be appropriate Hymns sung during Low Mass.

Sung Mass in York

On Sunday 14th February (Quinquagessima Sunday), the 6.30pm Mass at the Church of the English Martyrs in York will be sung by Fr Stephen Maughan. The schola of the Rudgate Singers will be chanting the proper parts, with the congregation singing the ordinary. This will be the second time for Fr Maughan.

Fr Maughan will be singing the Mass again in a few weeks on Laetare Sunday.
