Unexpected Support for Latin Mass

The campaign to promote the freedom of the Latin Mass has gained support from an unexpected source.  Mr Jim Shannon, the Democratic Unionist Party the MP for Strangford in County Down in Northern Ireland has submitted a written question to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK government asking if there were any plans to intervene with the Holy See on the question of the rumoured ban on the Latin Mass during the forthcoming Chartres pilgrimage.

Mr Shannon is a Protestant, a prominent Orangeman and a member of the political party founded by the Rev Ian Paisley.  He is also a campaigner for the freedom of religious beliefs, and clearly regards the restriction currently being imposed on the Latin Mass as a violations of such freedoms.
